This month it was announced that Teamsters 856 Principal Officer Peter Finn was appointed to Teamsters Joint Council No. 7 Executive Board.

Finn will serve on the seven-member Board headed by President Rome Aloise.

Joint Council 7 is the umbrella organization for 22 Teamster Locals in Northern California, the Central Valley, and Northern Nevada.

The Council coordinates activities between Locals, conducts negotiations that impact multiple Teamster unions, and supports and organizing drives, including the recent tech shuttle drivers campaigns at Apple, Genentech, and Facebook. The Joint Council also works in conjunction California Public Teamsters Affairs Council on legislative affairs and political endorsements at the local and statewide level, provides legal services, and publishes the Joint Council No. 7 Teamster newsletter that is mailed to members’ homes five times a year.

In 1907, Joint Council 7 became the first council chartered by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters; today, the council represents 100,000 working people.

“Joint Council 7 is recognizing the hard work of all 856 reps, stewards, and members across our entire Local,” said Finn. “I look forward to getting to work and being a voice for Teamsters 856 members on the Board.”
