Response to today’s controversial decision by the United States Supreme Court in favor of corporate special interests and against working people:
“Today the Supreme Court ruled in a case that was funded by billionaire corporate special interests whose sole agenda is to dismantle unions so they can turn good public-sector jobs into low-paying work with little or no benefits, high out-of-pocket costs, and most certainly no pensions.
Teamsters 856 will not be deterred by this decision. We have the strength in numbers we need to continue to work together to negotiate and enforce strong contracts.
In fact, ninety-eight percent of the working people represented by Local 856 have chosen to be full Teamster members!
If we continue to stand united, we will maintain the power we need to be strong at the bargaining table and continue to secure a fair return on our work in the form of wage increases and protection of our health care and pensions.
I look forward to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with you all as we work to keep our union strong together.”
