Local 856 has long been in the fight to reduce the skyrocketing cost of health care. As health care costs go up, they negatively affect take home pay — directly impacting us at the bargaining table. We will not allow unfair and unreasonable costs to continue to force us to divert money that should be spent to increase wages to cover the rising cost of health care.
Over the last several years, we’ve worked with unions across the state to pass legislation that requires more transparency from insurance and pharmaceutical companies regarding their prices.
But we won’t stop there.
Yesterday, Local 856 Secretary-Treasurer/Principal Officer Peter Finn took our fight to the Capitol. He addressed the State Assembly during an informational hearing and called on the legislature to pass a solution that controls the costs that burden working families.
