This is pretty exciting: our very own Staff Attorney/Public Policy Coordinator Malia Vella has decided to serve her community through public office and has announced her candidacy for Alameda City Council! Malia kicked off her campaign on May 22 with a packed open house event in Alameda that included attendees Assemblymember Rob Bonta, former Assemblymember and current State Senate Candidate Nancy Skinner and former Alameda Mayor Marie Gilmore (all pictured with Malia above). Anyone who’s met Malia knows how driven and passionate she is about improving the lives of working families – affordable housing and vibrant neighborhoods are key components of her campaign platform. There is no doubt that Malia will make an excellent councilmember, so spread the word to your friends, family, and anyone you know who lives in Alameda to vote for Malia this November in the general election.
