Creating a strong future for our children

Local 856 we often talk about our Teamsters Family, and while that family is our co-workers and fellow Teamsters we stand shoulder to shoulder with throughout our Union, everything we do as Teamsters starts with our loved ones at home, who are the reason we work so hard.

In the Teamsters, it is family first, and with a fast-changing world, it is more important than ever to prepare our kids for future success.

Earlier this year, we launched the Teamsters Afterschool Fund, a 501c3 non-profit created to provide Teamsters 856 families with financial assistance  for Teamsters 856 K-12 children to participate in afterschool programs.

Afterschool programs provide education, enrichment, and activities that spur growth outside of regular school hours, exposing kids to a broader spectrum of interests, encouraging them to work with others, build confidence, and be further prepared for the academic and career opportunities ahead of them.

As Teamsters we believe it’s our responsibility to do all we can to ensure the next generation is prepared for a strong future and so we are thrilled to be able to provide scholarships to Teamster kids to pursue their passions outside of the traditional school day.
