Highlights from around Teamsters 856 – July 2018

Teamsters 856 honored for member solidarity

Teamsters 856 is strong because 98% of the working people represented by our union have chosen to stand together as full Teamster members.

In July, we were honored for having over 90% full membership alongside other local unions at the California Labor Federation’s 2018 Biennial Convention.

Local 856 Political Director Tricia Suzuki Blinstrub and her son Logan accepted the honor from dynamic labor leader and civil rights activist, Dolores Huerta, on behalf of all Teamsters 856 members.

Congratulations new mayor of San Francisco, London Breed!

Last year, then San Francisco Supervisor London Breed joined Local 856 shop stewards at our annual Shop Steward Appreciation Day. This year, London Breed was elected mayor of San Francisco and sworn in on July 11th.

Congratulations to Mayor Breed! Local 856 looks forward to working with her to improve the lives of working people in San Francisco.

2018 Teamsters Day at the Ballpark

Last month, Local 856 members joined fellow Teamsters Joint Council 7 members for Teamsters Day at the Ballpark!

This year, members chose sides in the Battle of the Bay, as the Oakland A’s took on the San Francisco Giants — with the A’s ultimately winning the game. Thanks to everyone who attended and look out for information about the 2019 Teamsters Day at the Ballpark next year.
