One hundred and fifty Teamsters 856 members working at Hertz Rent a Car locations throughout the Bay Area overwhelmingly ratified a new three-year agreement this month.

The Teamsters 856 bargaining team, which included President Mike Lagomarsino, Staff Attorney Susanna Farber, Representative Liliana Cortez, and rank and file members Melba Gaeta, Annette Losada, Armando Marcal, Victor Irra, Debra Pimental and Sylvia Shepard, worked long and hard hours to bring a fair contract to the membership.

“I’m so happy with our new contract, said Gaeta, who works at the San Jose location. “We got raises and increases to our pension, and health and welfare,” she continued.

After negotiations reached a standstill earlier this year, the parties agreed to proceed to mediation, where an agreement was made that included retroactive increases across the board for membership.

“I really appreciate all the effort and dedication from our side of the table – in my 34 years, this is this is the hardest we’ve fought,” Gaeta said.

Lagomarsino credits the membership with the solid contract. “Through tough negotiations, the members stood strong and united, which resulted in a contract that we can be proud of.”

Hertz Local 856 members work as customer service and instant return representatives at all three major Bay Area airports and various satellite locations. Teamsters 856 also represents members working at Avis, Budget, National, and Alamo Car Rentals at these airports and downtown San Francisco.
