In early October, a delegation of Teamsters 856 members joined with other union members across California to travel to Nevada to get out the vote for Hillary Clinton. The 856 team, led by new Representative Veronica Diaz, spent the weekend knocking on doors and talking to voters in the swing state to ensure the defeat of Donald Trump, who is decidedly anti-union and has a record of outsourcing of jobs, supporting and so-called “right-to-work” anti-union laws, and skipping out on paying workers. The election of a labor-friendly candidate to the presidency is crucial given the current vacancy on the evenly split Supreme Court, which is is set to decide cases that will have major impacts on working families for years to come.
