Tomorrow, the West Contra Costa County Unified School District (WCCUSD) Board of Education will vote on whether to cut graduate tutors. Not only are graduate tutors members of Teamsters 856, they are also educators who provide students with the extra academic support they need to keep up in the classroom.
In many cases, graduate tutors are the only resource English Learner students and students from immigrant families have to help them learn to speak, read, and write in English so they are prepared to succeed in class.
